Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad has expressed gratitude to public representatives, security institutions, religious leaders and citizens for their cooperation during Muharram-ul-Haram 2026, which concluded peacefully across the city.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the CCPO thanked MNAs, MPAs, law enforcement agencies, Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, district administration, ulema and religious scholars from all schools of thought, Shia community leaders, trader bodies, print and electronic media representatives, and “the resilient people of Peshawar” for maintaining religious harmony and order during the holy month.
He said traders and residents kept commercial centres closed and extended full support to the police and district administration. As a result, all Muharram processions and majalis ended without incident.
Dr. Saeed noted that more than 10,000 officers and personnel of Capital City Police Peshawar, along with police contingents from other districts, traffic police and lady police, performed duties round the clock in severe heat to ensure law and order.
For the first time, he added, processions and majalis were monitored using modern technology in line with the vision of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed. The measures included anti-drone cameras, anti-drone systems, anti-drone guns, body cameras and the Safe City Project, which helped make security arrangements more effective and coordinated.
Reaffirming the department’s commitment, the CCPO said Peshawar Police would continue to safeguard citizens’ lives and property, promote inter-sectarian harmony and maintain sustainable peace with the same dedication and professionalism.
He once again thanked public representatives, all law enforcement agencies, religious leaders, ulema, district administration, the business community, media and the citizens of Peshawar for their exemplary cooperation.
