MARDAN : District EPI Coordinator Mardan, Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman, has said that the media has a vital role to play in the success of the vaccination campaign against cervical cancer. He urged media representatives to actively contribute to raising public awareness, addressing parents’ concerns, and spreading positive messages about vaccination so that more girls can be protected against this potentially life-threatening disease.
He expressed these views while addressing an orientation session for media representatives held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mardan. The session was jointly organized by the Health Department, MERF, and the Khigara Development Organization (KDO). Assistant Commissioner Mardan, Dr. Ahmad Sher Zaman Dogar, chaired the session, while KDO District Project Officer Dr. Shah Saud also addressed the participants.
On the occasion, Dr. Zia-ur-Rehman gave a detailed briefing to media representatives about the causes of cervical cancer, preventive measures, timely protection, and the importance of vaccination. He said that cervical cancer can be prevented through timely preventive measures and vaccination. However, providing accurate information to the public and addressing misconceptions prevailing in society are essential to achieving this goal.
He informed the participants that the special vaccination campaign against cervical cancer would continue from November 11 to 24, during which girls aged 9 to 14 years would be administered the preventive vaccine.
He urged parents to extend their full cooperation to the campaign and ensure that their daughters receive the vaccine. He also appealed to media representatives to play their role in spreading the message of this important public health campaign to as many people as possible.
