Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textile Mills Association (KPTMA) Salim Saifullah Khan Friday appreciated the government’s move to provide relief to COVID-19 affected business community of the country by clearing income tax refund up to 50 million.
In a statement issued here, he appreciated the vision and strategy adopted by the government in facilitating the business community, adding that it would enable them to fight with widening liquidity crises due to worldwide economic slowdown.
He said that the business community sustained huge losses due to worldwide lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that all the steps taken by the government to ensure working capital availability to the business community either through concessional financing by the State Bank of Pakistan or releasing Rs 140 billion due tax refunds are commendable.
Salim Saifullah urged the government to release long overdue refunds related to duty drawbacks and technology up-gradation funds as well to extend further support to the already affected industry.
He urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to announce a similar economic package as given by the US and EU to cover the steep decline of GDP and job losses.
He said the government should support the industrial sector and give incentives to avert closure of industries with a view to create employment opportunities as pledged by PTI leadership with the nation.
