Chairman NAB visits KP bureau, reviews performance of regional office

NAB – KP recovers Rs12621m from corrupt elements: Justice (r) Javed

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Thursday visited NAB-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to review its performance. NAB Director Brigadier retired Farooq Nasir Awan briefed the chairman about the working and performance of the bureau.
He apprised that the NAB KP received ten thousand eight five complaints.
NAB KP has examined 56397 complaints since 1999, 1940 inquiries and 765 investigators have acted in accordance with the law while NAB KP has filed 368 references of corruption in accountability court Peshawar.
DG said that NAB KP has so far recovered Rs 12621 million from corrupt elements.
He added that Accountability Courts have convicted 51 accused in the last 4 years due to effective follow up of NAB KP.

Chairman Javed Iqbal said that NAB K P is an important regional bureau which has played a key role in enhancing the overall performance of NAB.
NAB is a national body whose officers consider eradicating corruption from the country as part of their national responsibility and faith, he added.
NAB adheres to the policy of “Accountability for All”, adding that the business community is the backbone of development and prosperity of the country.
NAB not only respects the business community but also refunds sales tax, income tax and underwriting cases in accordance with FBR law.
He said that NAB always not only values those who perform their duties in accordance with the constitution and law but also values their self esteem, respect and services.
The Chairman said that NAB was the only body which has signed a memorandum of understanding with China to monitor the ongoing projects in Pakistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said that NAB was the focal point of Pakistan under the UN Convention against Corruption as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his speech in 1947 had termed corruption and nepotism as a great evil.
