PESHAWAR: The Chamkani acid attack case on Thursday took a new turn as the woman nominated in the case involving an acid attack and firing on a man was found married with two children. According to police, the woman was also injured by acid during the incident and was shifted to the Hayatabad Burn Centre for treatment. During the investigation, police discovered that the arrested woman is married and has two children. According to the FIR, 26-year-old Sadiq Ullah, son of Abdullah, told police that he had friendly relations with the woman. He alleged that she was blackmailing him to marry her and demanding Rs2 million. The victim claimed that after he refused to marry her, the woman came to his house. When he opened the door, she threw acid at him, causing burns to different parts of his body. He also accused her of opening fire at him. Police said the woman has denied throwing acid at the victim. In her initial statement, she said she had been living at her parents’ home after a dispute with her husband. APP
According to her account, Sadiq Ullah called her to his house on the pretext of helping reconcile her with her husband. However, when she arrived, her husband was not there. She claimed that an argument broke out and the acid incident occurred, in which she was also injured.
She has also given a different account regarding the person who allegedly opened fire.
Police said both the injured man and the woman are currently receiving medical treatment and that further questioning of the woman will be conducted.
Initial information suggests that the two had become acquainted while working as teachers at a private school. Police said CCTV footage, mobile phone data, statements from the injured parties and other evidence will be examined to determine what actually happened.
Police registered a case against the woman on the complaint of the injured man under Sections 324 and 336-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to police, after the woman is discharged from the hospital, they will seek her physical remand for further investigation.
