Spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the decision of the Indian Supreme Court (SC) on Article 370 will not affect the Chinese position on Ladakh.
According to a media report, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that the western part of India-China border has always belonged to China.
On December 11, the Supreme Court upheld the August 2019 abrogation of Article 370, which ended the special status of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It led to the reorganization of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir into two states of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
While answering to a question about the Supreme Court’s decision, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China has never recognized the so-called Union Territory of Ladakh unilaterally and illegally established by India.
He said that the western part of China-India border has always belonged to China. The above comments reflect China’s stance on the region.
Earlier on Tuesday (December 12), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation also expressed concern over the Supreme Court’s decision, while the Indian Ministry of External Affairs rejected the statement of OIC.
India’s foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said it makes the OIC more questionable for its human rights abuses and support for cross-border terrorism.
