CM Aide reviews progress on irrigation schemes in KP

An important meeting held here on Wednesday with a special assistant to the caretaker chief minister on irrigation and housing in the chair, reviewed the performance of the irrigation department and its ongoing schemes.
The meeting was attended by secretary irrigation Mutaher Zeb, secretary housing Rashid Khan, chief engineer north and south, director generals, project directors and other senior officials of the departments concerned.
The forum was briefed on the overall performance of the irrigation departments’ annual development schemes.
Special assistant Zafar Ullah Khan Umerzai issued instructions to concerned authorities of the irrigation department to perform their duties without any pressure and focus on merit and solve public issues on priority basis.
The chair reviewed the Annual Development Programme (ADP), Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP) and Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) schemes.
It was informed that there are a total 155 ongoing schemes of the irrigation department of which 148 are new and seven schemes are 7 old.
Besides the irrigation canal system, various acts including Canal and Drainage Act 1873, River Protection Act 2014 and KP Water Act 2020 also came in detail.
Similarly, it is also said in the presentation that the irrigation department completed 37 small dams in different areas of the province while 30 small dams are under construction in which 11 dams are in the south region, 9 in the north region and 10 in merged tribal districts.
