CM GB approaches SC for stopping PM from appointing judges

Supreme Court (SC) has been moved for stopping Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif from appointing judges in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The petition has been filed by Chief Minister (CM) GB Khalid Khurshid.
The petitioner has requested the court PM Shahbaz Shahbaz should be halted from appointing judges without consultation of elected government of GB.
The court while issuing notice to federal government and Attorney General (AG) has sought reply till March 01.
The petitioner has taken the plea in the petition PM Shahbaz Sharif is bypassing the elected government in the matter of appointment of chief judge and judges of Supreme Appellate Court (SAC) in GB. According to GB order 2018 making consultation with the elected government of GB is must for making any appointment.
It has been further said in the petition federal government is making appointment of more judges in GB.
Justice Mazahir Akbar Naqvi inquired during the hearing of the case “is no consultation made with the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) in connection with appointment of judges in GB.
Makhdoom Ali Khan counsel for CM GB Khalid Khurshid replied as per law governor should send names to Prime Minister (PM) under the advice of CM regarding appointment of judges.
On the petition of CM GB, a 3-member bench of SC headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan has issued notices to federal government and Attorney general and sought reply till March 01.
