An important meeting held here on Thursday with Commissioner Malakand Division Saqib Raza Aslam in the chair, reviewed the fundraising campaign for the people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The meeting was attended by the officials of higher education department, district administration, representatives of trade union, president Abdul Rahim, Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Rahat Ali Khan, and other officials.
In light of the orders of the provincial government, the plan of action for a fundraising campaign was discussed.
In the meeting, it was decided to provide an opportunity to the students of colleges and universities, traders, the business community, and the general public to participate fully and generously support affected families in Syria and Turkey.
Trade Union and Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry assured to provide full support to the district administration in the meeting.
On this occasion, the representative of the trade body handed over cash assistance worth Rs100,000 to Commissioner Malakand Division Saqib Raza Aslam on behalf of the Swat Chamber. Commissioner lauded the spirit of the trade union and chamber officials and said that Turkey has fully helped the people of Pakistan in every difficult hour and this is high time to help the affected people of Syria and Turkey in this difficult situation.
“The families in Syria and Turkey are looking for assistance and we have to do every possible effort we can” said the Commissioner.
Saqib Raza Aslam said that arrangements have been made by the district administration to collect funds and other assistance.
He also appealed to the people of Malakand Division to collect financial and non-financial aid under the procedures provided by the institutions so that this aid can be sent to Turkey and Syria in time.
