Commissioner Peshawar orders action against non-provision of facilities to passengers in bus stands

Commissioner Peshawar division Riaz Khan Mehsud on Tuesday directed authorities concerned to take stern action against all passenger vans failing in provision of facilities to passengers in different bus stands of the provincial capital.
He issued these directives while presiding over an important meeting related facilitation provision to the public in general bus stands and flow of traffic in Peshawar.
On public complaints, orders were issued to seal the stands running old and substandard buses, monitoring the provision of facilities to passengers in public and private bus bases.
In order to improve the flow of traffic on the Charsadda Road, a committee has been set up to prepare recommendations to shift the Charsadda Bus Stand to the New General Bus Terminal.
Commissioner Peshawar division Riaz Mehsud also issued Instructions to establish a complaint cell, provide uniforms to all staff including drivers, check blood pressure and sugar of drivers before travel, ban entry of beggars in all passenger bases, walk-through gate and full-proof security arrangements.
Riyaz Khan Mehsud, who is also the chairman of Regional Transport Authority, directed the secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Akbar Iftikhar to fix the fares according to the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Dr Ehtisham-ul-Haq, Secretary RTA Akbar Iftikhar, Assistant Commissioner Peshawar Obaid Dogar attended the meeting.
In the meeting a detailed report was presented on behalf of the RTA secretary about all the passenger bases, in the light of which, on public complaints, orders were issued to seal the dive base for running old and substandard buses, both public and private.
A committee consisting of Secretary RTA, Assistant Commissioner Peshawar City and Deputy Director Terminal has been established for the monitoring of bus stands and provision of non-standard facilities in the limits of Peshawar.
Additionally, Commissioner Peshawar also issued instructions that no one will be harassed unnecessarily, stations with standard service will be strongly encouraged and they will be given cash rewards in addition to certificates by the administration.
