PESHAWAR: An attack targeting polio vaccination team in Hangu district on Wednesday left a police constable injured, police confirmed. The attack took place on Samana Road near Tabi Kali Pahar, where a polio team was on duty under police protection. Police said armed assailant opened fire at the team, injuring a police constable identified as Muhammad Anas. The constable sustained a bullet injury to his leg. The injured cop was immediately shifted to Abdul Rauf Hospital for medical treatment. Doctors confirmed that his condition is stable. Following the incident, police swiftly responded and successfully arrested the suspect involved in the attack. A search operation was also launched in the surrounding area to ensure security and prevent any further threats. Such incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by polio eradication teams in certain regions, where security concerns continue to pose risks to frontline workers. APP
