Karachi: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court heard seven cases related to May 12. The court expressed anger over the non-appearance of Wasim Akhtar. As per media report, MQM Pakistan leader Wasim Akhtar could not appear at the hearing of 7 cases of May 12 tragedy in ATC, Karachi. The anti-terrorism court sought clarification from him at the next hearing. Wasim Akhtar’s lawyer said that his client had applied for exemption from attendance. Wasim Akhtar has sought permission from anti-terrorism court no.2. The lawyer said that Wasim Akhtar has gone out of the country for necessary work. Online
The judge remarked that cases are also being heard in the apex court. He did not seek permission from the apex court.
The judge angrily asked the lawyer, “How did your clients leave the country without the permission of the apex court?” Decision reserved on Waseem Akhtar’s request for exemption from attendance.
During the hearing of the case, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for MQM activist Hanif for his absence and ordered that the accused Hanif be arrested and produced at the next hearing.
The anti-terrorism court later adjourned the hearing of seven cases related to the May 12 tragedy till the end of this month.
