DLP Report
PESHAWAR
The Health Department, in coordination with relevant authorities, carried out a comprehensive crackdown in Peshawar against elements allegedly involved in the sale and illegal distribution of counterfeit meningitis vaccines, a handout said.
During a joint operation, inspection teams arrested several individuals and recovered a large quantity of suspected fake vaccines from mobile vendors. The seized doses were confiscated and taken into custody for laboratory testing and legal proceedings.
Taking notice of the issue, Provincial Minister for Health Mian Khaliqur Rehman Khattak said those “playing with human lives” would face strict action.
He said a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against the manufacture, distribution, hoarding and black marketing of counterfeit vaccines.
He directed authorities to ensure prompt action on public complaints, warning that any negligence or failure to act would result in strict departmental and legal action against the responsible officials.
The minister said emergency measures were being taken to ensure the availability of safe and authentic vaccines through official channels.
He added that Pfizer would supply 400 doses within the next two days to prevent shortages and facilitate citizens.
He urged the public to obtain vaccines only from government hospitals and authorised health centres and to avoid purchasing them from unauthorised individuals or mobile sellers.
Citizens were asked to report any suspicious activity to the Health Department or district administration.
