As many as 38 days have been passed since the formation of the Public Accounts Committee, of the Parliament but the chairman could not be elected.
The notification for the formation of the Financial Oversight body was issued on June 12.
There is a deadlock between the government and the Sunni Ittehad Council on the issue of the election of the chairman. The government not agree on the name of Sheikh Waqas Akram as Chairman PAC.
The government is ready to appoint one of PAC members from Sanaullah Mastikhel, Riaz Fatiana, Malik Amir Dogar and Khawaja Shiraz Mehmood as the chairman of their choice.
However, the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) insists on making Sheikh Waqas Akram the Chairman PAC.
The Sunni Ittehad Council is not in a position to elect its own chairman in case of an election.
In the 22-member PAC, the number of government members is 14, the total number of SIC and supporter members in the PAC is only 8.
The government held the Sunni Ittehad Council responsible for the delay in the election of Chairman PAC.
Muslim League (N) Member National Assembly and Chief Whip, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that SIC insisting on one name, that is why the election of the chairman is being delayed.
The government is firm on the decision to give the post of chairman PAC to the Sunni Ittehad Council. If the opposition wants the post of PAC chairman, it has to provide four names.
