RAWALPINDI: Solemn and dignified ceremonies were held across various garrisons, including Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Multan and Gujranwala on Sunday to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day and pay tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. The ceremonies were attended by senior military officers, representatives of the civil administration, military personnel and other officials. During the ceremonies, smartly turned-out contingents of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour at the Martyrs’ Memorials and laid floral wreaths in remembrance of the fallen heroes. The participants paid rich tribute to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifices in defending the country and safeguarding its sovereignty and security.
