Dengue awareness walk conducts in Landi Kotal

To sensitize tribesmen of the disease, a Dengue awareness walk was conducted here in District Headquarter Hospital Landi Kotal on Friday.
The activity was organized by the health department and beside Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Jamshed Sherani, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Landi Kotal, Rameez Ali Shah, health and Tehsil Municipal Authority(TMA) officials and people from different walks of life participated in it.
The participants while holding banners, inscribed with writings pertaining control of the disease, marched from the administration block till main gate of the health center to alert the dwellers of the illness.
Speaking on the occasion administration and health officials said that Dengue fever was a deadly disease and the only preventive measure was to keep clean water covered.
“Dengue mosquito is a social one and only breeds in clean water, therefore efforts should be made to avoid exposed water storing systems in houses and streets,” they said.
They urged the residents not to let their children leave early in morning and to go to their homes before evening because these are bite times of the mosquitoes.
As per the health official so far, not a single effectee of Dengue disease has been reported in Landi Kotal, sub-division of Khyber.
Separately,the Pak-Afghan sharing border ,Torkham, remained closed consecutively for the third day due to the dispute which erupted last day between the two countries over the building of a new post at the crossing.
