Deputy speaker assures steps to enforce Hindu marriage law

PESHAWAR: A meeting between the National Lobbying Delegation for Minority Rights and Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Suraya Bibi was held to discuss the delayed implementation of the Hindu Marriage Act 2017 rules. The delegation highlighted the challenges faced by the Hindu community due to a seven-year and nine-month delay in the rules’ enforcement. A statement issued here stated that Suraya Bibi expressed support for the delegation’s concerns and was briefed on the details of the Hindu Marriage Act 2017 and the proposed amendments to its sections. She assured her backing and pledged to recommend the notification of the conditional rules. The final draft of the amended act and rules will soon be presented to the cabinet. DLP Report
