The elected cabinet of District KhyberPress Club, Landi Kotal took oath from Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs, Auqaf and Hajj Muhammad Adnan Qadri in a gathering held in the press club hall on Monday.
Tehsil Chairman Shah Khalid, President Khyber Bar Association Farhad Afridi Advocate, tribal elders Masel Khan, notables, political workers, lawyers and local media persons were also present during the oath taking ceremony.
Among those who took oath were District Press Club President Aman Ali Shinwari, General Secretary Hijrat Ali Afridi, Finance Secretary Mian Sajid, Vice-President Rahat Shinwari and Jibran Shinwari joint Secretary.
Addressing on the occasion the Provincial Minister said that journalism was the profession of the Prophets and fourth pillar of the state and it should play its role in the better interest of the society.
It was the main duty and responsibility of journalists to convey the right information to the people, he said, adding that the government would facilitate the local journalists.
The journalist community, Khyber sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, he remarked.
He maintained that efforts would be made to restore funds for the construction of the District Press Club.
Earlier, the newly elected President of the press club apprised the chief guest of the problems of the local media persons.
