A rich tribute was paid to the former Afghan President, Dr Muhammad Najibullah on the occasion of his 29th death anniversary on Friday and recalled his services for the wellbeing of his people.
In this connection a gathering was organized in Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber that was attended by General Secretary Communist Party of Pakistan(CPP) and convener of lift alliance Imdad Qazi, commerade Najib Khawarichan, Shakib Khan Ahmad Ali and people from different walks of life.
Speakers including Imdad Qazi Najibullah Khawrichan, Shakib Khan highlighted different aspects of the life of former Afghanistan President Dr Najibullah and said that killing of Dr Najib was the black chapter of the history as he worked for the rights and unity of the Pakhtuns throughout his life and this he would be remembered for ever.
Dr Najibullah had been seeking peace and stability in the region but he was killed by the regional enemies of the Afghans, they remarked.
They maintained that Dr Najib was assassinated under an international conspiracy to destabilize regional peace.
It was the ideology of CPP to work for the prosperity and betterment of the working class, they added and said the wheel of development of the country functioned due to the group.
They said time had arrived for Pakhtuns to differentiate between friends and foes as the enemies had been deceiving them through hollow slogans for the last four decades
The speakers urged the youth community to follow Dr Najib footprints while striving hard to work for restoration of peace and stability in Pakhtuns society that had suffered due to conflict in the recent past.
It is to be mentioned here that Muhammad Najibullah, born 1947, in Gardiz province of Afghanistan and was killed by Taliban on September 27, 1996 in Kabul.
