ISLAMABAD
Election Commission (EC) has cancelled notification of Returning Officers (ROs) for postponing election in two constituencies of National Assembly including NA-83 and 85 in Sargodha. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) has directed the election will take place in these two constituencies. Electoral process should continue therein.
The petition for postponing the election in these two constituencies came up for hearing before EC due to death of candidate.
The petitioner and PML-N candidate Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti appeared in the EC and told that death certificate of the candidate is of January 15 while he had passed away on January 02 and his funeral prayers were held on January 03. This way forgery has been made in this matter.
DRO Sargodha said it has been proved in inquiry Sadiq Ali died on January 02. Returning officer NA-85 told that fake death certificate was provided to him.
CEC while directing DC Sargodha to take action against secretary union council cancelled notification of returning officer for postponing election.
