Disqualification reference

Disqualification Reference against PTI leader and opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub came up for hearing in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). As per media reports, disqualification reference against Omar Ayub was heard by a 5-member commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). Omar Ayub came on rostrum and told copy of disqualification reference has been received by him. Omar Ayub said “ I have to engage a lawyer as yet. Budget session is going to start and I am member of finance committee.
Budget meeting is held twice in a week therein. Additional time be given to me for budget session and for hiring counsel for my representation. Hearing be fixed in the month of July.
Member election commission Sindh Nisar Durrani said there is 90 days time in connection with speaker’s reference.
Later ECP accepted Omar Ayub plea and adjourned hearing of Omar Ayub disqualification reference till July 01.
Talking to media men after hearing of reference, Omar Ayub said reference against him was filed with speaker National Assembly (NA).
Speaker NA sent the reference to ECP without using his mind.
NA speaker made no consultation in connection with this reference. I defeated my rival by 40000 votes in 2018 election. Local body election -2023 was not held. My rival has already moved Abbottabad High Court (AHC) and his reference against me has been dismissed by AHC. Today I said in election commission it is month of budget and give time to us.
