ECP organizes workshop to promote voter awareness, civic participation

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) organized a workshop on Friday for journalists and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Peshawar.
According to a press release, the event aimed to raise voter awareness and encourage civic participation, with a special focus on empowering disadvantaged communities.
The workshop was inaugurated by Muhammad Nadeem Khan, Director Elections at the Office of the Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mr Khan highlighted the ECP’s ongoing efforts to ensure inclusive voter registration and participation, irrespective of gender, age, or ability.
“The Commission is committed to increasing voter registration and ensuring that all segments of society, particularly marginalized groups, are fully represented in the democratic process,” he said.
He emphasized that the workshop sought to foster stronger partnerships between the ECP, media, and civil society, enabling the creation of a more informed and engaged electorate.
Also addressing the workshop, Director Media Coordination at the ECP Secretariat, Ms. Darya Aamir, along with Deputy Director MCO Sohail Ahmed, spoke on the importance of voter registration and its pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s democratic future.
Participants discussed strategies for engaging women, youth, and persons with disabilities in the electoral process. The sessions underscored the media’s critical role in spreading awareness and mobilizing communities to exercise their right to vote.
The event concluded with a call to action for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to build a more inclusive and participatory democracy in Pakistan.
