ECP postponed LG polls in Baka-Khel tehsil of Bannu

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday announced that it has postponed local body elections in Bakakhel Tehsil of Bannu district as the district administration reported poor law and order situation in the area.
“Keeping in view the deteriorating law and order situation in the tehsil, the ECP has ordered the postponement of polling in the entire Tehsil.” said ECP
New date for election in the concerned tehsil will be announced later, said a notification issued by the ECP.
The ECP has received reports from the DRO of Bannu that some of the unidentified masked men have looted the polling materials.
DPO Bannu has also requested the ECP provincial office late night that owing to the poor security situation, the election should be postponed.
Following the reports, the ECP formed a three-member committee to examine the situation.
It is to note here that the ECP has also postponed local body elections in Dera Ismail Khan after some unidentified armed men killed the president of the Awami National Party (ANP) who was a candidate for the tehsil mayor.
Umar Khittab Sherani was shot and killed by unknown assailants on Saturday.
According to the initial report, some unknown gunmen opened fire on Sherani outside his house, killing him on the spot.
