First ever Local Bodies(LB)election carried out here in Khyber however poor arrangements by the Election Commission affected the election process.
As per the election schedule polling started at 8:0 am and continued till 5:0 pm without interruption in Landi Kotal.
Number of tiny scuffles among the candidates mostly at female polling stations in Landi Kotal was also reported that caused slow pace of polling. According to the local administration on the interruption of some irrelevant persons, polling at all 20 polling stations in Bazaar Zakha Khel, located in the remote area of Landi Kotal, was unanimously suspended due to ragging complaints.
To ensure safety of the polling crews, extra-security forces personnel teams have been dispatched to the area, an official said. The Election Commission has set up 91 polling stations in Landi Kotal to facilitate the voters. Scores of unpleasant incidents took place in Jamrud and Bara where the polling process was suspended for time being.
After expiring the scheduled time,counting of the votes will start,one of the presiding officer said.
