ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has withdrawn the schedule for holding Local Bodies (LB) polls in December in Punjab. As per media reports ECP met under Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja Tuesday. Members of commission, secretary and senior officers attended the meeting. Matter of holding LB polls in Punjab was deliberated over in details in the meeting. Secretary ECP gave detailed briefing to commission. It was told during the briefing that Punjab Assembly has approved Punjab Local Government Act-2025. With the implementation of new act, Punjab Local Government ACT-2022 stands cancelled. The ECP withdrew its schedule for holding LB polls in Punjab in December. ECP while giving more 4 weeks time to Punjab government stopped the delimitation of local bodies polls in Punjab. Online
