Muhammad Faiq Shah, founder and chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party called for setting aside political differences and frame a joint agenda to steer the country out of crisis.
Shah noted: “Pakistani politics is stuck in a vicious cycle of vengeance, which is impeding democratic culture,”
He asked: “Are we destroying the political landscape”?
Talking to various delegations here on Thursday, the party leader said accountability is that which should be carried out ‘across the board’ and indiscriminate.
He said accountability based on specific purposes/interests and political revenge have multiplied bitterness and hate and also created hurdles in the way of justice.
The ATP chief asked governments and institutions to build up a concrete system of external accountability so that the process of self-accountability can be fostered.
We need to learn lesson from 77 years of social, economic and political history.
Shah said oppression, consequences of actions, and political and economic conditions were visible before everyone.
The party leader said today, Pakistan would have ranked among the developed nations, if attention had paid to education, agriculture and industry.
He asserted Pakistan should learn lesson from India, China and other neighbouring countries as to where they stand today in a short span of time.
Faiq demanded an end to the game of revenge and interests which has diluted the whole political system.
Calling the government’s priorities ‘poor’, he added that the government should be focusing on economic miseries of the people.
The ATP head asked the government to chalk out a holistic economic recovery plan, through which, agriculture produce, export and investment should be promoted by adopting modern techniques.
He emphasized that all political parties should make economic progress part of their manifesto.
