Faiq Shah supports govt’s decision of holding Senate poll thru show of hands

PESHAWAR, December18: Chairman, Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) Muhammad Faiq Shah has backed the government’s decision of holding Senate election through show of hands or open ballot what he described the system would ensure transparency and fairness in the Senate poll process.

Talking to media persons after meeting with leaders of different political parties here on Friday, Faiq Shah suggested that the Senate election should be conducted through ‘show of hands’ or open balloting process, asking the opposition to avoid from doing politics on this important constitutional issue.

Furthermore, he asked: “What kind of interests, they want to achieve by deceiving people and institutions? Urgent decisions on important legal and constitutional issues need to be taken, which would help to stop the way of ‘horse-trading’, ‘corruption’, and ‘black mailing’.

Expressing concern over the fresh spike in coronavirus cases in Pakistan, Faiq Shah criticized that the government and opposition instead to make unified policy to efficiently combat against Covid-19 pandemic as well as overcome with the current economic downturn in result of this deadly disease, are carrying out bombardment of words against each other’s, which was merely for attainment of personal interests and gains.

People have been highly disappointed due to poor performance of incumbent government and rulers, the ATP chief said, adding that there’s need to restore public confidence by showing honesty, accurate character, role and measures to give relief to the downtrodden segment of the society.

Reiterating his resolve that his party will hold strict assessment and accountability of the political elite and opportunist group, if they will get a chance to come into power, Faiq Shah claimed that they have effectively raised public ground realities and wrong policies of the incumbent rulers at every forum.
