Food authority destroys 1400 liters adulterated milk in Peshawar

Khyber Pakht-unkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority and Livestock department during a crackdown on adulteration in milk in the provincial capital destroyed more than 400 liters of adulterated milk and sealed several dairy shops.
During the operation in Gulbahar Peshawar milk samples were taken from various dairy shops and tested from the mobile laboratory of the Livestock Department.
The action was taken on the instructions of Director General KP Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan.
In order to ensure quality of milk in Peshawar, inspection of dairy shops in different parts of the city has been expedited. According to the Food Safety Authority, strict legal action will be taken against the owners of the concerned dairy shops for mixing water in milk.
Inspections were carried out in various markets to ensure compliance of hygiene principles in poultry shops in Swat. During the operation, three poultry shops were sealed for violating SOPs of the Food Safety Authority and poor sanitation arrangements.
According to the Food Safety Authority, relevant SOPs have been provided to all food related businesses and action will be taken against the violators. Various shops, hotels, bakeries and other businesses in Tank Dera Road Bazaar were inspected.
During the inspection, non-food coloring and expired items were recovered from a shop which was destroyed on the spot.
Various general stores, bakeries, spice shops and hotels were inspected in Hoveed Bazaar area of Bannu. In a spice shop, China Salt and non-food grade colors were confiscated and the shop was sealed and fined.
