PESHAWAR: Friends of Paraplegics (FoP) transformed the life of a needy person with a disability (PwD) in Swabi by providing a job and a dignified home, a powerful testament to collective compassion and humanity. Through its “Own Business Program,” the FoP supported this Paraplegic Center Peshawar graduate to start a small business. APP
Upon learning he lived with his family in a dilapidated shack lacking basic amenities, the organization contacted Naveed Butt Charity, which promptly provided eight 800000 rupees, while the local community covered remaining costs. A total of one million 18 thousand rupees funded a room, bathroom and boundary wall. With support from local organization members in Swabi, a second room was added, turning the rudimentary shack into a proper home.
The home was inaugurated by FoP Chairman Engr Sanaullah, General Secretary Engr Irfanullah and District Coordinator Abdul Rasheed amid applause from gathered dignitaries.
Dr. Ilyas Syed, CEO of Paraplegic Center Peshawar, couldn’t attend but sent a fragrant bouquet for the recipient.
At the ceremony, Engr Sanaullah said this home was built not with bricks but with the mortar of hope and humanity. Engr Irfanullah thanked Naveed Butt, Naveed Salam and Sajid Dar, praising Abdul Rasheed’s dedication and saying the home was crafted with love and sincerity.
The recipient shared that treatment at Paraplegic Center Peshawar sparked his will to live, but owning a business or home was just a dream, made reality by FoP in days. Sher Rahman, a local NGO representative, said FoP is a beacon of hope for PwDs. Its “Own Business Program” and other initiatives are changing lives and this home proves that collaboration and humanity can turn dreams into reality.
