PESHAWAR: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has showed interest to collaborate with the newly-constituted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) for revival of sick industrial units in the province.
FPCCI Vice-President Riaz Khattak noted that the disinvestment and merger of Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) with the KPEZDMC had created a challenging task for the provincial government. He said FPCCI intended to sign a MoU with the new management to give impetus to industrialisation in the province, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.
Mr Khattak said that being a chairman of business advisory committee of the KP government, he would take up the matter in the next meeting that how the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company could be further transformed on the lines of corporate structure to establish a proper system in the organisation.
It was stated that KPEZDMC would now be responsible for administration of the existing and development of new industrial estates in KP.
The FPCCI vice-president suggested that KPEZDMC should develop the road network inside Hattar Industrial Estate on priority basis as it was the only major active industrial zone in the province.
“We must understand that industrialisation and agriculture can really change the fate of KP, and so, the government must set its priorities accordingly,” he stressed.
