The area gained special attention after local journalists highlighted the miserable plight of the coastal population. The residents of the coastal region have been deprived of the basic amenities of life for the past two decades.
Dr. Mashuque Hajiani head of the welfare trust who had turned up to support the poverty-stricken population of the coastal region while talking to this correspondent said that his organization had devised a strategy to support these poverty-stricken families of the coastal region permanently adding that “alike others they too deserve all basic amenities of life”.
In other countries, the coastal belt area was of distinct importance but here unfortunately neither the federal nor the provincial government had taken steps for the provision of basic facilities to the coastal population; He said and added that other social organizations should also turn up to facilitate the needy families.
“We have so far registered widows and differently-abled inhabitants of the coastal region who will get ration on monthly basis. Besides, our organization will launch a project for the supply of clean drinking water to the coastal villages under which we will install handpumps in the coastal areas”; he said.
Haji Dandal head of the village said they had been facing hardships after the May-99 calamity that took away everything from them but after a long time they were seeing a beacon of hope for themselves.
