Project Director Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Project Hamza Salik paid a visit to water and sanitation services company Mardan. He inspected various sections of the company.
Chief Executive Officer Engineer Amir Khan Mohmand briefed the Project Director of PICIIP on the model adopted by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for establishment of Water and Sanitation Services Companies in seven divisional headquarters.
He apprised the Project Director on the initiatives being taken and achievements made since the inception of wsscm in 2016. He added that various biological and chemical test of water are carried out on yearly as well as on need basis.
Currently, three hundred water quality test have been carried out by PCRWR at source, distribution network and tapes of the consumers whereas water quality test on the private bores for the comparison also being carried out.
The results shown that wsscm water quality is good instead of citizens own bores, he added.
Regarding the waste collection CEO said that wsscm collect 180 tons waste per day from 39 neighborhood councils of Mardan city where five tons of waste is segregated and convert into compost.
The company has received the best company award of 2021 in solid waste management throughout the province.
While appreciating the performance of WSSCM Project Director Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Project Hamza Salik said that they are in the process of thinking to propose KP’s WSSC’s model in the selected cities of Punjab Province.
He also paid a visit to the city in order to see the operational performance of the company and appreciated the level of cleanliness in the city of Mardan.
He took interest in the billing and revenue system, online monitoring system and fleet management system.
Manager Municipal Services Muhammad Khalil Akbar, Manager Planning and Projects Imran Zaman, Manager HR and Administration Imran Afridi, and Assistant Manager Planning & Monitoring Sameera Zaib were also present on this occasion.
