Health advisor reviews flood-hit areas, inspects hospitals in Swat

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali, along with MPA Sultan Room, visited flood-affected areas of Swat district to review relief efforts and medical services being provided to victims.
He was accompanied by Commissioner Malakand Division Abid Wazir, Deputy Commissioner Swat Saleem Jan Marwat, officials of WSSC Swat, and other concerned departments. The delegation visited Mingora, Mullahbaba, Makan Bagh, Bangladesh, and Haji Baba to assess the extent of damages. Commissioner Malakand briefed the health advisor on the losses and the steps taken by the government for relief and rehabilitation.
Mr Ali also inspected free medical camps established in the affected areas, where immediate medical assistance, preventive care, and mental health support were being provided by the Health Department. Appreciating the dedication of medical staff and volunteers, he said: “The courage of our people is commendable. Our medical teams are working day and night so that no one is deprived of treatment. We are determined to further strengthen these efforts.”
Later, the advisor visited Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital, where the Medical Superintendent briefed him about the facilities for flood victims. He inspected wards and units, reviewed emergency protocols, staff availability, and medicine stock.
The health advisor directed the Deputy Commissioner Swat, District Health Officer, and Medical Superintendent of Saidu Hospital to ensure the best possible medical facilities for flood victims, with special focus on maternity care, child health, mental health, and disease surveillance.
