The health department on Wednesday directed the authorities to put in place “an integrated approach” at all levels for strengthening anti-dengue activities as the recent monsoon rains have increased the possibility of larval breeding in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The recent monsoon rains resulted in enhanced larval breeding sites in all districts as indicated from analysis of larval surveillance data,” said a notification issued by the health department.
It said that the previous record postulated that the months of September and October are very prone to dengue outbreak in the province, adding that focus should be increased on activities including larval surveillance in high-risk union councils, areas, workshops, scrap warehouses to prevent dengue disease.
It added, “Supervise and monitor dengue prevention and control activities of all line departments with feedback mechanism”.
