High level meeting discusses Muharram security plan for Peshawar

CCPO Ahsan Abbas said on Friday that a strict security surveillance system has been installed across Peshawar aimed at peaceful conduct of Muharran.
He issued this system while presiding over a meeting to review security measurements taken by police and other law enforcement agencies during Muharram.
The high level meeting at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line was attended byTraffic Police Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat, SSP Operation Yasir Afridi, Commandant Campus Police Muhammad Hussain, SSP Investigation Shahzad Kokab Farooq, and four divisional SPs, including PO Khyber Waseem Riaz, SP Security Muhammad Nabil, and SP Headquarters Rahim Hussain.
CCPO was briefed that a camera control room has been set up at Khan Raziq Shaheed police station and a special control room at Sharqi police station, including setting up a supreme command post for all major service providers at Kohati Gate.
A strict surveillance is being carried out across the city through CCTV cameras, peaceful conduct of Muharram as well as implementation of Coronavirus SOPs during processions and other events of the Shia-community in Peshawar.
On the occasion, CCPO Abbas Ahsan clarified that efforts have been made for the last one month to hold Muharram peacefully, adding that strict search of people entering the city including targeted search and strike operations around the city.
He further said that all available resources are being utilized in this regard.
In order to maintain law and order in the city, coordination with the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies is underway.
Coordination has been established, he added, adding that fire brigade, Rescue 1122 and ambulance including personnel of these agencies would be present round the clock at the Supreme Command Post at Kohati Gate for timely resolution of electricity, gas and other issues during Muharram.
