LAHORE: A miscellaneous petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging hike in the price of sugar. Federal government, provincial government and others have been made respondents. The petitioner has taken plea in the petition price of sugar has soared to Rs 160 per kilogram in market. As per market rate sugar price should be Rs 100 per kilogram. Hike in sugar price is breach of basic human rights. The petitioner requested the court to nullify the hike in sugar price. The court should give order to government to fix sugar rate in accordance with market rate. Online
