A room in a house of a local was damaged when a rocket shell fired from Afghanistan landed at the residency here in Charwazgai area of tehsil Landi Kotal district Khyber, police and locals said on Thursday. They said that on Wednesday late night hours, the Afghan regime fired a number of shells from across the border targeting civilian population in Land Kotal. A missile struck the house of one, Zulfiqar Afridi and caused damage to it. Mr Zulfiqar Afridi said that the shell destroyed a room and partially damaged bounder walls and smashed windows.
The area had been already evacuated therefore no life loss had occurred, he added. Windows of surrounding houses were also broken, locals said.
In retaliation, the Pak forces targeted the holdouts of the Afghan forces with heavy artillery, forces said.
Since one week, Pak-Afghan combat has continued at the border and at intervals, skirmishes between the two forces are in progress. The indiscriminate shelling of the Afghan regime created panic among the tribesmen in Landi Kotal, locals said.
On the other hand the administration and forces officials asked the dwellers of Landi Kotal to stay at their homes and avoid unnecessary walking outside their residencies uselessly.
