PESHAWAR
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) on Thursday seized a huge cache of adulterated and substandard species from a production unit.
The raid was conducted on a unit in Shahi Bazar of Chitral, during which a large quantity of unhealthy spices was seized, said an official communique.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Director General (DG) Shahrukh Ali Khan, during which various businesses related to food were inspected.
During the inspection, the authority inspected various food production units in the area.
Meanwhile, KPFS&HFA conducted raids on different shops related to food and drink in Karrak and Kohat markets during which expired cold drinks, spices and ghee were seized from two grocery stores and sealed them on the spot.
Various shops were checked on Hangu Road, non-standard salt was found in a baker’s shop, while legal action was taken by sealing the shop after finding expired items from one shop.
While many other shops were issued notices for improvement.
The director general assured to take strict action against the culprits involved in such a heinous crime.
He directed the field teams to regularly monitor spices production units along with other food-related businesses, so that safe and healthy food reaches the general public.
