ISLAMABAD
Islamabad High Court (IHC) has nullified the sentence awarded to ASI Zahoor on the charges of leaking secret information to Russian diplomat.
Written decision will be issued later.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani while hearing the case approved appeal plea against sentence and declared the sentence null and void Monday. Imran Feroze Malik advocate and other advocates appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
The court will issue written decision later.
It is pertinent to mention here that case was registered against ASI Zahoor on December 13, 2021. Special court of official secret act had awarded sentence of 3 years in jail on May, 18, 2024.
The court had earlier suspended the sentence awarded to ASI.
The court had maintained that threat alert reports of interior ministry cannot be called secret information or secret documents.
