Timely first aid plays a crucial role in saving lives during accidents and other emergencies, Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said on the occasion of World First Aid Day. Rescue 1122 KP spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said the organisation’s trained emergency responders had provided timely first aid to millions of injured and ill people, helping save precious lives.
He said providing immediate and quality emergency medical assistance was among the core responsibilities of Rescue 1122. However, the organisation’s role was not limited to responding to emergencies, as it was also taking sustained measures to raise public awareness about first aid and provide practical training to citizens. According to the spokesperson, free first-aid training is being provided at schools, colleges, universities, government and private institutions, security forces and at regional and district levels.
Mr Faizi said Rescue 1122 KP had so far trained millions of volunteers in basic first aid. The trained volunteers were now better equipped to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance to family members, friends and people in their surroundings before professional emergency responders arrived.
He urged citizens to acquire basic first-aid skills so that they could provide timely and appropriate assistance to victims during emergencies while waiting for rescue teams to reach the scene.
He said greater public awareness and first-aid training could significantly improve the chances of survival and help reduce the impact of emergencies.
