IHC orders suspension of ET proceedings of NA-48

Islamabad High Court has ordered the suspension of the election tribunal proceedings of NA-48 after NA-47 and has issued notices to the parties and sought their responses.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq heard the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Bukhari on Friday. Ali Bukhari and other lawyers appeared in the court. The court issued a stay order on Islamabad constituency NA-48 and stopped the election tribunal from proceeding to the extent of Ali Bukhari’s petition.
The Islamabad High Court said that the election tribunal can continue the proceedings of NA-46.
The court issued notices to the parties and sought responses. The election tribunal has fixed December 24 for the case related to the three constituencies of Islamabad.
PTI’s Ali Bukhari has challenged the victory of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz from NA-48.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had issued a stay order on the petition of PTI candidate from Islamabad Shoaib Shaheen, barred the tribunal from proceeding with the election petition.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry became MNA from NA-47. His victory has been challenged by Shoaib Shaheen.
