The Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD) Hayatabad, Peshawar, in collaboration with Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has introduced a groundbreaking program titled Certificate in Andro-Urology.
This initiative, the first of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is designed to enhance the expertise of medical professionals in reproductive medicine and infertility treatment.
The KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, handed over the course launching notification to IKD Assistant Professor Dr. Mir Abid Jan.
At the occasion Dr. Abid expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, highlighting the significance of this collaborative effort.
He emphasized that the program would not only strengthen ties between IKD and KMU but also open new avenues for addressing infertility and sexual health issues in the region.
Scheduled to commence in January, this six-month certification program is tailored for medical doctors and aims to enhance knowledge and skills in addressing critical issues such as infertility, male sexual health, and associated challenges.
Each session will enroll 20 participants, who will receive training through a structured curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
The program will focus on improving participants’ understanding of infertility and sexual health issues, equipping them to effectively manage cases using evidence-based approaches.
It will also address societal stigmas and misconceptions surrounding infertility and sexual health, providing participants with the tools to educate and counsel patients.
The curriculum includes comprehensive training in reproductive endocrinology, semen analysis, assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including IVF/ICSI, and microsurgical techniques.
It is worth mentioning that Andro-Urology is an emerging interdisciplinary field that combines expertise from urology, gynecology, radiology, and embryology.
This approach ensures accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of infertility and sexual health issues, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes. Participants will gain hands-on experience through regular outpatient department visits, surgical observations, and practical training in ART labs.
This innovative program represents a significant milestone in the healthcare sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. By bridging knowledge gaps and enhancing professional capabilities, the Certificate in Andro-Urology aims to improve patient care and foster a deeper societal understanding of reproductive health.
This initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on addressing critical medical and social challenges related to infertility and sexual health in the region.
