Inter-provincial gang of smugglers busted

Acting on tip-off, police on Monday recovered a huge cachte of drugs from an inter-provincial gang of smugglers and arrested three members of the gang, said a police handout.
According to details, SP Rural Zafar Ahmed Khan and DSP Chamkani Zahid Alam received secret information that a huge cache of drugs were being smuggled from Peshawar to other districts of the province. Consequently, a police team led by SHO Shahpur Akram Jan during an important operation stopped a suspicious car near the service road toll plaza and recovered three kilograms of ice, four kilograms of heroin and five kilograms of hashish from the secret compartments of the vehicle.
The arrested persons have been identified as Deen Muhammad. Rajeem and Haiwad.
During the preliminary investigation, police maintained that two arrested smugglers are the residents of Afghanistan and one from Khyber district.
The motor car has also been taken into police custody, and further investigation has been started by registering FIRs against the arrested accused.
Similarly, SHO Shahpur Police Station Akram Jan arrested three more accused Shehzad, Anwar Ali and Pasni during operations against the drug dealers and recovered about five kilograms of hashish and ice worth thousands of rupees.
The arrested persons are the residents of different areas who are involved in supplying drugs to certain customers.
Police said that during the initial investigation they admitted their involvement in the nefarious drug trade, against whom cases have been registered and further investigations have been initiated.
