TESCO recovers Rs 3om from defaulters

PESHAWAR: The Tribal Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) has recovered more than Rs30 millions from defaulters during the ongoing operations against power thieves, said an official statement here on Monday. Following the instructions of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), raids have been conducted in the tribal districts of Khyber, Mohmand, North Waziristan and Bajaur, it added and said that several areas were cleared of direct hooks that were used for electricity theft. The officials of the TESCO have said that during the operations, 231 illegal connections were removed and fine worth Rs4.5 million were imposed on the thieves of electricity in different areas of the tribal belt. They said that raids have been conducted with the help of concerned district administrations and police force and Rs30 millions from defaulters. The TESCO also requested respective police stations to register cases against those involved in electricity theft. DLP Report
