Islamophobia, racism a ‘stain’ on Europe’s face: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor said on Tuesday surging incidents of Islamophobia and racism are an ‘ugly stain’ over Europe’s face. Reacting to heinous incident of disgracing Holy Quran in Sweden and Netherlands, the minister said incidents are a violation of international laws. In his statement, the minister condemned Swedish government for allowing an ‘unpopular’ figure to openly disgrace the Holy Quran. He said the incident was sheer misuse of freedom of speech. “Holy Quran is the final divine book by Allah Almighty. Every Muslim is ready to sacrifice their life to protect sanctity of the Holy Book,” he said. Shakoor said Muslims’ affiliations with their religion are as sacred as believers of any other religion. Government of Sweden must make necessary arrangements to contain such extremist acts, he demanded. ONLINE
