Jamrud police conducted a major raid against an illegal liquor manufacturing unit in New Abadi area on Sunday, seizing distillation equipment and hundreds of litres of liquor and arresting one person.
The operation was carried out on the special instructions of District Police Officer Khyber Waqar Ahmad as part of an ongoing crackdown on drugs and illegal activities, police said.
Led by SHO Jamrud Sadiq Khan, a heavy contingent and a special team raided the facility. During the raid, police recovered equipment used for manufacturing liquor along with hundreds of litres of raw alcohol and 57 bottles of finished liquor.
Police arrested the alleged operator, identified as Muhammad Chinar son of Hayat Sher, a resident of New Abadi, and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the law.
According to SHO Sadiq Khan, initial investigation showed that the arrested suspect was involved in producing liquor and supplying it to various areas. Further investigation is underway.
“Investigations are also ongoing to arrest other elements involved in the manufacturing and supply of liquor,” the SHO said, adding that “indiscriminate operations against drugs and other illegal activities in the area will continue.”
Police said they have intensified raids across the district following directives from the DPO to curb the liquor trade and narcotics network.
