Jashn-e-Azadi sports gala: Nabiullah wins cycling race

Nabiullah of Peshawar won the 15-kilometre Jashn-e-Azadi Cycling Race organized by the Regional Sports Office Peshawar as part of the Independence Day Sports Festival. Cyclists from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the race held on Peshawar’s Northern Bypass Road.
Advisor to the Chief Minister for Sports, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, distributed prizes among the winning cyclists and congratulated them on their outstanding performances.
In the Sports Cycle category, Nabiullah secured first position by completing the 15-kilometre race in 19 minutes and 44 seconds. Khizar Hayat of Mardan finished second in 19 minutes and 45 seconds, while Ahmed Zaib of Mohmand secured third position with a time of 19 minutes and 46 seconds.
In the Ordinary Cycle category, Gul Sher of Peshawar claimed first position in 19 minutes and 45 seconds. Owais of Mohmand finished second in 20 minutes and 1 second, while Ahsanullah of Peshawar took third position in 20 minutes and 2 seconds.
The closing ceremony of the Jashn-e-Azadi Sports Festival was held at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium, Peshawar. In the Kabaddi final, Daudzai Club defeated Sorezai Club 25–17 to win the title, while in the Football final, Young Star XI defeated Shaheen XI 2–0 to clinch the championship.
Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, ADC Finance Muhammad Asghar Surani, Regional Sports Officer Ahmed Zaman, Chairman Provincial Cycling Association Nisar Ahmed, President Cycling Federation Azhar Ali Shah, DSO Khyber Faisal Javed, Secretary Provincial Kabaddi Association Sultan Bari and other prominent personalities attended the ceremony.
Cycling race commissioners included Sardar Shabab, Murad Ali, Tahir Shah and Muhammad Bilal, while Syed Shayan Ali Shah performed duties as Organizing Secretary.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor for Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand said that organizing sports competitions on Independence Day is an excellent way to promote patriotism, unity, discipline and positive activities among the youth. He congratulated the winners and all participating athletes on their performances and said that efforts would continue to promote sports and provide better opportunities for the youth across the province.
