Justice Muneeb Akhtar has taken oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Chief Justice of Pakistan is in Saudi Arabia for performance of Hajj while justice Mansoor Ali Shah is outside the country. Justice Muneeb Akhtar took oath as acting chief justice of Pakistan on Friday due to departure of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Justice Jamal Mandokhail administered oath to acting chief justice. Judges, lawyers and supreme court officials attended the oath taking ceremony.
Justice Muneeb Akhtar is on 3rd number in seniority list
Justice Munib Akhtar will serve as Acting Chief Justice until June 6, 2025. Following his tenure, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will assume the role of Acting Chief Justice from June 6 to June 10, 2025.
