KMU detects two fake Allied Health Sciences degrees

Peshawar: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has detected two fake degrees in the field of Allied Health Sciences, which were submitted to the University for Verification. According to details, on July 9, 2025, two individuals, Muhammad Shaban S/O Ajaz Hussain and Muhammad Issa S/O Kiramat Khan, submitted applications for the verification of their Bachelor of Science in Radiology Technology degrees, claiming to be graduates of the Northwest Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Peshawar. However, upon thorough scrutiny of official records by the KMU Examination Department, it was found that no such degrees had ever been issued under the mentioned names and particulars by KMU. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, who appreciated the timely detection by the Examination Department and, under the university’s zero-tolerance policy against fake degrees, ordered strict disciplinary action against the culprits. Following the VC’s directives, the case has been referred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further inquiry and legal action.
Meanwhile, VC Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, in his statement, said that forgery of academic credentials is not only a serious legal crime but also an attempt to undermine the credibility of educational institutions in society. He emphasized that degree verification must always be done through formal applications and official university records. He further warned that seeking employment or admission on the basis of fake credentials is illegal and liable to strict legal consequences.
The VC reiterated that KMU does not compromise on the integrity and transparency of its academic credentials, and the university has a clear zero-tolerance policy against fake degrees. He advised all institutions to directly contact the University for the Verification of any candidate’s degree or diploma, in order to prevent fraud, which is a shared national and moral responsibility.
Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq also announced that, to further facilitate students and ensure transparency, KMU has decided to introduce online verification of degrees. This system will not only provide students and concerned institutions with hassle-free access to authentic degree verification but will also help strengthen the culture of transparency and curb the menace of fake degrees.
