Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, highlighted the province’s commitment to interfaith harmony and minority rights while addressing a special Christmas function organized in honor of the Christian community in the KP Assembly.
He said some events in human history are remembered and celebrated across generations, emphasizing that the KP Assembly stands as a symbol of tolerance, mutual respect, and equal representation for all communities. “People worldwide celebrate the birth anniversaries of their religious leaders with devotion, and the KP Assembly shares in the joy of the Christian community,” he added.
Speaker Swati further noted that Islam teaches respect for all religions and protection of minority rights. He praised the young Chief Minister for taking serious and practical steps to address minority issues in the province and assured that this commitment will continue.
The ceremony was attended by provincial assembly members, former Speaker Karamatullah Chagharmati, Afshan Hussain, Faiza Malik, Ashbar Khan Jadoon, Subia Shahid, and minority representatives including Gorpal Singh, Askar Pervez, Suresh Kumar, and Berilal. Secretary Auqaf, Christian community representatives, and children were also present.
Member of the Provincial Assembly Askar Pervez extended Christmas greetings and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to protecting minority rights, promoting religious freedom, and ensuring equal civil rights.
